Wedding Photography

We've all seen the posed formal portraits of our grandparents wedding day -- beautiful black and white (or sepia) images of the bride and groom and combinations of bride, groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, siblings, sometimes full of smiles but typically lacking emotion.  David enjoys photographing in a photojournalistic style with available lighting -- capturing the day's events and emotion with the eye of an unimposing observer rather than that of a director dictating where to stand and how to look. Even the "posed" formals are casual and relaxed and try to capture people within their environment and the unexpected impulsive actions that can't be captured with a camera fixed to a tripod.  With more emphasis on candid and spontaneous moments and a de-emphasis on static portraiture, this documentary approach can yield a veritable explosion of images for you to choose from. (Of course, there's still an expectation to have some "formal" photographs.)

Wedding Photography Fees

Fees are based on time, services, and prints ordered. In order to customize kinderpics services to your desires, David encourages a conversation with you to discuss just what you'd like to have, and prices are set accordingly. Here are some example packages to give you some ideas of "standard" rates that can be tailored to your needs. In all  packages you'll get a data disc with high-resolution easily printable JPEG images of all your post-production photographs plus six-months access to a website gallery for you and your guests to view and order prints (if you choose not to print them yourself).
  • The Basic/Short Package for the budged-constrained or small wedding and short reception typically at the same location, up to four continuous hours of photographer coverage -- $500
  • The Standard Package is great for most weddings and receptions, you get up to six continuous hours of coverage -- $700
  • The Full Day Package lets you capture all the events on your wedding day, including getting ready until the reception breaks up -- $1000
While you're free to make prints on your own from the JPEG images included on the disc you'll receive, sometimes you'll want to take all the work out of the photography for your day and not have to deal with friends and relatives that would love to get prints of some of the images.  You and your guests can have professional prints made from your wedding images through the online gallery included in your wedding package.  Fees for prints ordered through kinderpics depend on the print size and finish, and start at only $2 for a 4x6 inch print.  There are also a large variety of other items you can have a print reproduced on, including coffee mugs, aprons, mouse pads, aprons, and more. (You might consider something like this for a special thank you gift.)

Additional service add-ons include:
  • Engagement Session - when included in a wedding package, you can get a casual portrait session for the bride and groom included for half the normal "family portrait" session fee.
  • PhotoShow DVD - about 200 images are selected and made into a high-quality 15-minute DVD photoShow including background music of your choice.
  • PhotoBook - you choose the photos and David will layout and produce a hard- or soft-cover 20-page bound book.
  • Special Image Processing:  Some images will call out for special treatment for that large-over-the-fireplace print or "hand painted" black-and-white print.
